New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand wants to help colleges across the country strengthen their engineering programs.

Gillibrand is making a strong push for a bill that would designate 25 schools as “manufacturing universities” and provide them with incentives to align their curriculum with the needs of modern manufacturers.

The bill, dubbed the Manufacturing Universities Act of 2015, would offer grants of $5 million a year for four years to qualified universities.
